Our friends Ken & Anja came to visit us in August of last year. We took them on a whirlwind tour of the area and around Christmas time they emailed to tell us the great news that they were getting married. They asked if we would come to Germany to photograph their wedding? So after figuring out all of the many details we graciously accepted.
Weddings in Germany can be very different from Canada. For starters the bride and groom have a town hall ceremony in the morning, this comes with blessings from the mayor and local officials. Later they prepare for an afternoon ceremony which takes place in the church. The bride and groom walk up the isle together behind the minister. (slight break from tradition here) Following the ceremony they greet their guests with some champagne and perform a log cutting ceremony where balloons are released into the air.
We photographed for about two hours with the Black Forest as our backdrop. So many great photo possibilities! After shooting we were off to the reception which finished pretty much when everybody was ready for breakfast.
Ken & Anja chose a great spot to be married and it was what every wedding should be; intimate, relaxing and fun. We were honored to be a part of their day. Here are some photos for you to enjoy.
Cheers,
Kate & Andrew
